I just love a wild yard! No manicured lawn for me. So when I saw a blog post from my friend Erin about this glorious sunflower field on Highway 96 in Franklin I had to go check it out for myself. So one morning I got up early headed to Erin’s house near the fields and we snapped away!! So many sunflowers at various stages of life. Just like a family. See the whole set of images here!
My New Favorite: Goldy Honey Bear Sunflower
The name alone brings a smile to my face. Images of Pooh bear with his hand in the honey, the dog who won my heart as a teenager, Honeybear, a stuffed golden bear that I sent with my baby on her journey to be with her family…. this flower reminds me of all these moments through my life. The flower looks like one could just lay in it’s petals and take a nice nap until it came time to go to seed and the golden finches come to feed.
This is my new favorite flower. Thinking of way to grow them all year! The Goldy Honey Bear Sunflower from Botanical Interests.
Summer Wild Flowers and the Southern Magnolia Blossom
My favorite site driving down the road is the mix of Queen Anne’s Lace, Tiger Lilies and Thistle in fields and yards!
The following images of Queen Anne’s Lace and Thistle were taken from the parking lot of Bates Nursery in White’s Creek.
Abundance of Green at Fall Creek Falls: Tennessee Nature Photographer
This past Saturday morning I did what I had not done in about 30 years… climbed down to the bottom of Fall Creek Falls. I remember the time before. I was 18 and dating a man from work, Neil, who loved hiking and caves. So in January of 1982 he took me Fall Creek Falls and we proceeded to climb down in the ice and snow with proper gear to the ice caves that formed at the bottom. I must find the pics from this time, scan and post … it was incredible as this hike was full of spring dewiness, green ferns, fiddleheads, slippery rocks, trees fallen from recent storm, the chill as I neared the bottom of the trail and few people on the trail.
I Am Peony!
This is what can be heard all through the natural world come the last few weeks of April. These beauties reveal themselves after a year of hiding. My landlord has a whole line of light pink and salmon colored peonies that come back every year. They are brilliant and stunning and so proud to be peonies!
The WOW Clematis! Tennessee Nature Photographer
A nice vision, driving into the Wags and Whiskers parking lot in East Nashville, of the color purple. Their clematis was in bloom and wow is it ever spectacular. This is the first clematis I have seen this year in bloom. I did not have my camera with me so I drove back the next day to create some art of this gorgeous plant.
Check out more beautiful visions from nature!
Back in the Garden: Tennessee Nature Photographer
Back to the community garden this year. A wonderful place for little treasures and little creatures.
